Copyright and the Internet
Copyright is a very important part of the Internet. It is very important to give other people credit for their work. There are several terms that we learned in this section. These words include:
Fair Use: When you are able to use someone’s work without their permission but only in certain ways
Creative Commons: A type of copyright that makes it possible to copy, share, and build on someone else's creative work as long as the creator of the original work is given credit.
Copyright: Makes sure that people can protect their work. So that other people can not take your work without your permission
Commercial Purposes: When you use Social Media and the Internet to help your business
Public Domain: Someone's work that they do not have protected by copyright and is free for everyone to use.
Artists and writers can use the Internet to promote their music, artwork, stories, poems, and other things that they create. However, some people take images without giving credit to the author. Others download music without buying it. This makes it harder for the artist to continue their work. If someone took an image that I made without giving me credit, I would be upset. If the person tried to use it as their own, I would be mad. If I worked hard on a drawing and someone "stole" my work, it would make me upset.
